Octavia is also a Microsoft Authorised Educational Reseller allowing us to sell Microsoft Academic Edition software products to education and charity customers.  This means we are specially trained in order to provide complete solutions and services to all types of organisation.

Consequently we will advise on the different Microsoft licensing options available and work with you to establish the best possible mechanism to use.

Apart from cost-reduction, we can highlight benefits like risk-reduction, convenience, flexibility and efficiency.

There are many different methods of obtaining legal Microsoft licences. Basically there two types of licence – Perpetual, where you buy the right to use for ever and Non Perpetual where you buy the right to use for a specified period of time – very like rental.

There are three different categories of licence, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), FPP (Full Packaged Product or Box Product) and Volume licensing, which in turn comes in a number of different forms.

  1. FPP (Full Packaged Product or Box Product) is the most expensive way to buy software and users normally buy 1-2 copies at any time.
  2. With OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), you always receive an Operating System which must be pre-installed and on the hardware.  It is a one off purchase with no OEM upgrades available.
  3. Open Licence offers customers discounts when purchasing 5 or more licences of any Microsoft software for SME’s (Small to Medium Enterprises).  The obvious advantage to having Licences opposed to Boxes is that ease of managing the company’s software assets, especially through eOpen where customers can track their purchases via the internet.
  4. Open Value offers customers who are licensing 5 PC’s or above the ability to buy Licence with Software Assurance (like maintenance) and split the payment and pay annually over the three year term of the agreement.
  5. Open Value Subscription is a non–perpetual licensing programme which is targeted towards Small to Medium sized customers with 5+ PC’s and is ideal for customers who want the flexibility offered by ‘rental’.
  6. Select is targeted towards large organisations (of 250+ PC’s) who would like flexible purchasing and can forecast their software purchases over the term of their agreement.
  7. Enterprise Agreement is for customers with 250+ PC’s who want to standardise on Microsoft product throughout their total enterprise.
  8. Enterprise Subscription Agreements is a non-perpetual licensing agreement for customers with 250+ PC’s and who want the flexibility of ‘rental’.
We know that we have an IT partner that we can 100% rely on to assist us with all of our IT requirements. We purchase equipment through Octavia as well as licensing at charity rates. Octavia have recently upgraded our servers and as always went the extra mile to make the process as smooth as possible.
